Helene’s Monument
ereenunohi
It was established in 1952 to commemorate the French ballerina Helene Giuglaris who passed away without visiting this land despite having an aspiration towards Miho-no-Matsubara, fascinated by the Noh ”Hagoromo”. A relief of Mrs. Helene looking at the Noh mask is engraved in Helene’s monument (Monument of Hagoromo), along with 6 lines of poetry that her husband Marcel Giuglaris sent to his lost wife.
